This week’s Drink of the Week is Samuel Adams Rebel Grapefruit IPA
Its pretty balanced as far as IPA’s are concerned but I will say that I may have wanted it to be a tad sweeter. Somewhere in between a Schofferhofer grapefruit hefeweizen and a Cigar City jai alai white oak would have been prefered. Although it lived up to Samuel Adams expectations, Personally for me there was something missing. What can I say though when you take the bitterness of and IPA and mix it with the bitterness of a grapefruit you are gonna get a more bitter beer. I would like this as more of a cocktail that a stand alone so I have a recipe below.
6oz Samuel Adams Rebel Grapefruit IPA
2oz Deep Eddie Ruby Red Vodka
1/2 oz simple syrup
4oz ruby red grapefruit juice
In a cocktail shaker filled with ice add the vodka, simple syrup, and grapefruit. Shake until combined.
Strain the cocktail mixture into a frozen pint glass and top off with the Samual Adams beer.
