Green Apple Sangria

This week’s DOTW is a double dip. We had a request from our buddy Chris Crespo from Cinema Crespodiso for sangria. I figured if we’re going to do a ladies night I might as well make it for the ladies the same week as we run the show so that they can taste this week’s drink of the week.  The results were delicious and there are a few tips in the recipe to elevate any sangria you make.

Green Apple Sangria

1 Bottle of Schmitt Riesling
1 cup of E&J Green Apple
2 cups Apple Juice
1/2 cup Pineapple Juice
2 tbsp Agave Nectar
2 limes
1 orange
1 green apple cubed

Start by cubing up your apple and placing it in the pitcher. Take a vegetable peeler and zest the orange and limes reserving the colored part and leaving the white part. This is called the Pith and is the most bitter part of the fruit. Squeeze the fruit into the pitcher and discard.  Add all the other ingredients into the pitcher and stir. Allow to sit for at least 1 hour. I let it merry together overnight. If you prep the fruit in this way you get all the flavor of the fruit none of the bitterness.
